Terms
Licence terms, refunds and conditions of sale — in language you can actually read.
What these terms cover
These are the terms on which we sell BOOX Mirror and the terms of the licence you receive when you buy it. They apply to every purchase made through this site.
They are written to be read. Where a plain sentence and a legal formula said the same thing, we kept the sentence. Nothing here removes a right you have under consumer law: where these terms and the law disagree, the law wins.
BOOX Mirror is at Beta status. Section 6 lists what that means in practice, and section 7 says what we do and do not warrant.
What is missing from this page
A real sale needs a named seller. Selling to consumers in the EU means publishing the legal name of the company behind the sale, where it is registered, how to reach it by post, its tax identification, and which country’s law governs the contract.
Those details are not on this page yet. They have not been settled, and we would rather leave the gap visible than fill it with something that is not true. Until they are added, the licence and refund terms below are final, and the seller identity is incomplete. A published version also needs the date it took effect.
1. What you are buying
You buy a licence to install and use BOOX Mirror. We retain ownership of the software.
There is one licence.
BOOX Mirror licences
- Licence
- One person, the Macs you personally use. Seats covered: 1 person · unlimited personal Macs.
The licence covers one person across their personal Macs. Each additional person needs a separate licence. Household, organisation and shared use are not covered.
Your receipt is the record of the licence you bought. No account is created when you buy, and the app never asks you to sign in.
The price of the contract is the price shown at checkout, including any VAT Stripe Managed Payments is required to charge on it. That figure, and not any figure elsewhere on this site, is what you are agreeing to pay.
2. What the licence permits, and what it does not
You may
- Install and run BOOX Mirror on the Macs your licence covers, and install the receiver on the BOOX tablets you use with them.
- Move it to a new Mac when you replace one.
- Keep a back-up copy of the download.
You may not
- Redistribute it: publish, upload, post or otherwise pass the app or the DMG to anyone your licence does not cover.
- Resell, rent, lease or sublicense it, or fold it into a product or service you sell.
- Claim that your copy or licence covers people it does not cover.
- Strip out the copyright and licensing notices that ship with the software.
3. Refunds
Email [email protected] within 14 days of purchase for a refund. No reason is required.
Email us within 14 days
Write to [email protected] within 14 days of the purchase. One line is enough, and you do not have to say why.
Include the order reference
It is on the receipt Stripe Managed Payments emailed you when you paid. If you cannot find it, send the email address you bought with instead and we will look it up.
We refund it
The refund is issued by Stripe Managed Payments, our merchant of record, to the payment method you used. How long it then takes to appear is down to your bank, not to us.
Your statutory rights
Consumers in the EU have a 14-day right of withdrawal on distance contracts. For digital content delivered straight away, that right normally ends once delivery begins with the buyer’s express consent and their acknowledgement that consenting ends it.
Our own refund is offered regardless of that, so you keep a full 14 days either way. Buying from us waives nothing: nothing in this section reduces a right you have under the consumer law of your own country, and where that law is more generous than this policy, the law applies.
When a refund is issued
The licence ends. Stop using BOOX Mirror, remove it from your Macs, and remove the receiver from the BOOX tablet.
4. Delivery
Delivery is digital. Nothing is shipped.
Your receipt arrives by email from Stripe Managed Payments, our merchant of record, immediately after payment. The download is on the confirmation page shown straight after checkout.
Payment itself is handled by Stripe Managed Payments. Card details are never entered on this site and never reach us.
If the receipt is missing, check spam, then email [email protected] for help recovering your purchase.
5. Updates and support
Updates
Updates are at our discretion. We promise no release schedule, number of releases or support period.
Quit the Mac app and replace it from the new DMG. Then use Setup → Update Receiver on BOOX over USB. Both versions must match.
Support
Support is email, at [email protected]. We reply by email.
There is no service level agreement attached to the licence. We do not guarantee a response time, and you should not buy on the assumption of one. Support covers BOOX Mirror itself — not your network, your hardware, or other software on your Mac or tablet.
6. Known limitations, disclosed before sale
Known limitations:
- Wi-Fi traffic between the Mac and the tablet is unencrypted. Use it on a network you trust, or stay on USB.
- The build is ad hoc signed and not notarized, so macOS shows an unverified-developer warning on first launch.
- Apple silicon only. Intel Macs cannot run it.
- Window capture is view-only unless you grant Accessibility and enable Control Mac.
- The BOOX on-screen keyboard is not forwarded — typing needs a physical keyboard attached to the tablet.
- Control Mac has to be re-enabled on the BOOX after every reconnect.
- Android Back, Home and volume keys stay with the tablet and are not passed to the Mac.
- E-ink refresh behaviour means this suits reading, writing, reference and terminal work rather than video or fast motion.
What BOOX Mirror needs
- MacRequired
- Apple silicon (M-series). Intel Macs are not supported.
- macOSRequired
- macOS 14 or later.
- Tablet
- A BOOX tablet running Android, with Developer options available.
- Cable
- A USB data cable — required for first-time setup even if you intend to use Wi-Fi.
- Developer tools
- Not needed. The tablet app and USB tools are included in the download.
- Code signingRequired
- The current build is ad hoc signed and not notarized, so macOS will warn that it cannot verify the developer on first launch.
If a limitation makes the app unusable for you, section 3 applies.
7. Warranty and liability
To the extent the law permits, BOOX Mirror is provided as is. We do not warrant that it is free of faults, that it will work with every BOOX tablet or every network, or that a connection will never drop. It is at Beta status and we say so on every page that sells it.
To the extent the law permits, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — lost work, lost time, lost profit or lost data — arising from using it. Where liability can lawfully be limited, it is limited to the amount you paid for the licence.
8. Changes to these terms
We can change these terms. A changed version applies to purchases made after it is published — not to one already made.
The version in force on the day you paid is the version that governs your purchase. We will not use a change to shorten a refund window or withdraw a right on an order that has already happened. If you want the exact wording that applied to your purchase, ask and we will send it.
If it matters to you, keep your own copy: save this page, or email us for one.
9. Contact
Questions about these terms, a refund or an order go to [email protected]. It is the same address as support, and a person reads it.
What the software does with your data is a separate question, answered on the Privacy page. What we can help with, and what to include when you write, is on the Support page.
The seller’s legal name, registered address, registration and VAT numbers and the governing law are not yet published — see What is missing from this page.
