The studio

Software that ships, rather than promises.

We build focused software that makes existing technology more useful and accessible.

Our method: Remove the bottleneck. Find the next constraint and repeat.

Current products:

  • BOOX Mirror — Beta. BOOX Mirror turns a BOOX tablet into a second display for an Apple-silicon Mac, over USB or your own Wi-Fi network.
  • Spec Kit hardening — Coming soon. Verification, evidence and governance controls layered onto AI-assisted software development.

Every product, in detail

What we believe

Nobody should have to adapt to unnecessary friction.

Poor design creates avoidable barriers.

We find the barrier and make the smallest change that removes it.

The five focusing steps we work through

Who this matters most for

A barrier affects some people more than others:

  • People with disabilities, for whom an inaccessible interface is not an inconvenience but an exclusion.
  • Older users, routinely handed software built around sharper eyes, steadier hands and an appetite for change that nobody asked them about.
  • People with a temporary impairment — a broken wrist, an eye infection, a week of no sleep — who need exactly what permanently disabled people need, usually without knowing there is a name for it.
  • People working under cognitive load: tired, interrupted, under pressure, or doing this alongside the three other things they are responsible for today.
  • Anyone whose setup is the constraint — an older machine, a small screen, a bright room, a slow connection, the hardware they could afford rather than the hardware a demo assumed.

Designing for those cases makes the software better for everyone else as a side effect. Designing only for the unconstrained case excludes people quietly, and the exclusion rarely turns up in anyone’s metrics.

How we handle accessibility, including this site’s own gaps

Choosing the work

How a product gets chosen.

Each idea must pass four tests:

  1. The constraint has to be real

It must block a real outcome. Removing it should change that outcome.

  2. Someone has to actually hit it

Someone must face it in daily use.

  3. What you already own has to come first

Use existing hardware before adding a device, subscription or account.

  4. We have to be able to state the limits

State what it cannot do before asking anyone to pay.

How we work

What we hold ourselves to.

Tell us if we break one of these commitments.

Each of these is checkable against a product page.

Ship small
Ship focused tools with clear changes.
State the limits
Publish limitations before checkout, including BOOX Mirror’s unencrypted Wi-Fi and first-launch warning.
No dark patterns
No countdowns, false scarcity, pre-ticked boxes or hidden prices.
No account to buy
Payment is handled by Stripe Managed Payments, our merchant of record, so card details never reach us. Your receipt records the BOOX Mirror licence, and the app never asks you to sign in.
No telemetry
BOOX Mirror keeps connection settings on your Mac. It collects no screen content, usage data or telemetry.
Refunds
BOOX Mirror: 14 days, no questions asked.

Prices are shown on the shop page and on each product page, before you reach checkout.

The refund terms sit on the Terms page, and what each product does with your data — what leaves the machine, what is stored, which permissions it asks for and why — sits on the Privacy page.

Make existing surfaces work as displays.
Accessibility
Design for different abilities and environments from the start.
Productivity
Remove steps that waste attention.
AI
Use AI only where it helps. BOOX Mirror has no AI features.
